Waterfalls encloses in triptych three choreographic works by Fabrizio Favale, in a weave so elaborate as to determine the beginnings of a new work. Waterfalls consists in the sequence of Hood, The inconsolable polymath and Un ricamo fatto sul nulla. A very light and fast sequence which starts from a 2010 work and arrives to an unreleased Favale’s solo. Waterfalls collects the most abstract dances of the group, vertiginously focused on pure movement, the ones that solve everything in the dynamics and in the linguistic diversity elaborated by the author and his group over the years. Yet these works branch out in three outcomes that could not be more different, as three waterfall branches of the same river.
BIOGRAPHY
In 1996 Fabrizio Favale receives as dancer “the critics award for best Italian dancer of the year”. In 2011 receives as choreographer the “Medal of the President of the Republic to the Italian choreographic talent”. From 1991 to 2000 he dance with the Virgilio Sieni company. In 1999 he founded the “Le Supplici” company. In the following years his works participate at the Venice Biennale, at the Suzanne Dellal Tel Aviv, at Expo 2010 in Shanghai, at the Santarcangelo Festival, at the Danae Festival in Milan, at the Festival of Edinburgh. Two of his works were rewarded for choreography in Spain, Germany and Serbia. Between 2005 and 2007 he created at the Teatro Comunale of Reno, the Mahabharata project, curated by ERT. In 2012 he realizes a short film for The Valtari Mystery Film Experiment Sigur Rós. He is the creator of a series of independent projects dedicated to research including: “Platform of Dance Balinese” for the Santarcangelo Festival. He collaborates with international musicians such as Mountains, Teho Teardo, Daniela Cattivelli. Currently his work “Obsidian” is invited to the Biennale de la Danse de Lyon.
