HIGHER is a performance inspired and based on the experience of club dancing. This Dance, which is not easily ascribed to any formal category but is rather observed as a social phenomenon, is analysed in its being a form of prayer and catharsis, individual and collective; a language able to transcend the human, overcome its identity crises (political, religious, sexual) and maybe, as philosopher Julia kristeva would say, awake a new Renaissance.
In this work, with the support of the original music made by musician Lorenzo Senni, Rizzo attempts to transfer the magical essence of the club in the theatrical/representational context of the black box, celebrating dance as the practice that compensates for the fact that we can never be each other.
